Transifex for enthusiast Open Source projects

Transifex started as an Open Source project in 2007. Since then, we’ve always been strong proponents of Open Source, providing Transifex for free to enthusiast Open Source projects.

Eligible projects are the ones with publicly available source codes licensed under an OSI-approved license, and have no funding, revenue, or commercialization model.

Launched in late 2020, Transifex Native is our latest initiative for the community.

Benefits for Open Source projects

The spirit of our Open Source Program has been and will always be to support independent projects and nonprofits, and to foster a community of collaboration.

How Open Source projects enhance their products for the world

“BOINC is an open-source platform for volunteer computing, and we’ve been using Transifex for 5 years to localize all the text in BOINC – both web and app -into about 30 languages. We’re extremely happy with Transifex – its web interface, its APIs, and the pool of excellent translators that help us. If only all software was this good!”

Collin McRay
Research Scientist, University of California, Berkeley

“Transifex meets all our needs with these 4 features: A command line tool to synchronize Transifex with our main project repository, Interface with Google translate to make translation faster, Integrated and automatic management of the teams to accept any moderated user to become a translator and Ability to search a key or translation to fix easily from a web interface.”

Laurent Destailleur
CTO, Dolibarr

Transifex has been facilitating Xfce’s localization effort for the best part of the previous decade and we hope it continues to serve the open source community for the years to come. Without Transifex, the contribution barrier for translators would be a lot higher and we’re glad to provide them a straightforward experience.
