Smarter, Simpler Notifications in Transifex

Notifications keep us informed about what’s happened. Without them, we might miss what another person said or a status change to a project. That’s why we’re excited to share with you updates we’ve made to Transifex notifications. Our hope is that they’d be more useful and relevant – and that your email inbox will be a little cleaner as a result. Let’s take a look at what’s new!

Grouped notifications

Certain related notifications are now grouped. So for example, instead of getting separate emails for every project language request, you’ll get one email with all the requests from the past few hours.

grouped email notifications

The following notifications are grouped:

  • Project language requests
  • Team updates and join requests
  • New and updated resources
  • Resource translated (this is a new notification)
  • New content detected (this is a new notification for Transifex Live)

You’ll see notifications grouped inside of Transifex as well.

More control which notifications you get

Notifications that are important to one person might not be important to another. With today’s update, you’ll have finer control over which notifications you receive. To turn off a notification, head to your Notification settings, and flip the switch to the “Off” position for any notification you no longer want.

Fewer unnecessary emails

Our little Transifex Robot was sending lots of emails – many of which weren’t really useful. So we decided to clean up what it was sending. Going forward, you’ll no longer get email notifications when:

  • An organization is deleted
  • A project is created, deleted, or archived/unarchived
  • A project is transferred to another team
  • A team is added or deleted
  • Another person is added or removed as a team manager
  • Someone leaves a team

Inside Transifex, you will still get notified about these events.

Redesigned emails

We gave our notification emails a much needed facelift so it matches the redesigned Transifex. Only the most important information is present, and it’s always clear what action needs to be taken.

New “from” address for email notifications

Email notifications now come from notifications@transifex.com instead of admin@transifex.com. If you have email filters set up for Transifex notifications, be sure to update them!

We hope you enjoy the new notifications. As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts on them.
