Celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day with Us!
We love to celebrate. April Foolsâ Day (April 1), Take Your Webmaster to Lunch Day (July 6), and No Interruptions Day (December 31) never pass uncelebrated in the Transifex office. We also observe Wear Brown Shoes Day (December 4), though not always consciously; and we celebrate our favorite holiday, Napping Day (March 11), all year round.
Naturally, we are gearing up for International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19, and we sure hope that you are too.
Founded in 1995 by two friends in Albany, Oregon, International Talk Like a Pirate Day started, as many good things do, with a sports injury. During a racquetball game, one of the scurvy pair erupted in a hearty pirate âAaaaarrr!â Just like that, an important holiday was born. Now we all have a day to break out our eye patch, use neglected words like âavastâ, and drink a little more rum than usual.
If youâre looking for a way to lighten the mood, send a #talklikeapirate tweet or two. To really to get in the spirit, do some coding with your hook hand, and, if you dare, translate your website to Pirate English.
To make sure that you can celebrate this important holiday the way it deserves, we support translation to Pirate English (en@pirate). Equally important, though less seasonal, we also support LOLCAT English (en@lolcat). To see the whole list of locales that we support visit Transfiex.com/Lanuages.
Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day, mateys!
*Just kidding about pillaging your booty. We promise we wonât.
